Nanoelectromechanical system
Nanoelectromechanical systems (NEMS) are nanoscale devices that integrate mechanical and electrical functions. Using nanoelectronics in conjunction with nanoscale pumps and motors, NEMS have potential as chemical sensors, displays, accelerometers, and devices that generate or harvest energy. NEMS that exist as experiment prototypes include single electron transistors, pH sensors, and detectors of protein concentration.
